There's nothing wrong with Lynch making commercials, he said so himself that he likes making commercials because in addition to being payed, he gets to use state of the art film-making technology and experiment with how he might use it in his movies. Also, Lynch's legendary visual style makes him ideal for directing short memorable advertisements.
