EDIT: Turned out to be 2 dead glow plugs.

This is my car trying to start, yet again. It took 2 cycles of the glow plugs and a lot of cranking before it finally fired. The slow revving when it finally fires it not me, thats the engine, my foot was flat to the floor when it finally fired. I did let off before the limiter of course.

Just a note: Yes, I know I revved a cold diesel hard, and yes I know you shouldn't. But you know what? Who gives a crap? Its my engine and I'll do what I like with it. Its not like I held it at high revs for long is it? 1 second is hardly going to damage it.

  • So its just plugs, yeah?

Was it starting fine after you put glow plugs init?

    Whats a Chav?

  • @KeVinRuDDz Yep that's all it was in the end.

A chav is someone who goes around in tracksuit bottoms, acting hard, beating up kids etc. Google can probably give a better description tho!

  • wow, you look like such a chav.

  • @RoniisH Lol, far from it... If you think I look like a chav then I dread to think what you would call a REAL chav... Just because I wear a hoody and wear trackies doesn't mean I'm a chav you know.

  • @abyssunderground I never said you were a chav, I said you look like one.

  • @RoniisH Fair comment.

  • Those first few seconds are when most engine wear occurs. The pistons are not even perfectly round until they are hot.

  • Next time rev it louder so others could hear how good the engine is.

  • I have a 106 1.5 diesel with a very hard driven 173,000 miles on it now. When i say hard drive, for the last 60,000 miles it's been driving pretty much flat out everwhere. Burnouts, red lining it through the gears. Glow plugs are almost 2 years old now and it still starts with 1 heat off the glow plugs after a second or 2.

It does cough a bit for a few seconds with bit of grey smoke but can't complain. Still hits 90mbh flat out and still does 60mpg.
