@STARZFAN31 I guarantee that using avoiding a DUI checkpoint as your probable cause for pulling me over wouldn't hold up in court. The only problem is that no one is willing to go through all the effort of taking it to court or challenging the police. I know for a fact that making a perfectly legal U-turn while in sight of a DUI checkpoint does NOT constitute probable cause and is, in fact, a violation of the 4th amendment. This is a supreme court decision btw. No jurisdiction has it

@Shrekinize I beg to differ, in many jurisdictions, avoiding a dui checkpoint is illegal and is probable cause to stop a vehicle. As a former police officer, I know this quite well. Avoiding the dui checkpoint, on purpose, does constitute reasonable suspicion.
