  • Back then I really believed Belly were going to be Rock Monsters, was I ever Naive. Letterman, cover of Rolling Stone. Dont know what happened along the way, there are stranger stories I guess. You had it going on Tanya, hope you still do. Always rooting for the Underdog.

  • Ah, the days before autotune...

  • Gail is super cool

  • I saw them in Germany around 1995 on the same bill as Oasis, The Cranberries and REM...these were my favourites...Oasis were shite

  • such a great band, so underrated. Star is one of the best albums of all time

  • To be fair "Star" sold well in excess of a million so it isn't true to say they didn't have a lot of success. The 2nd album wasn't a patch on the 1st though which probably didn't them any favours commerically.

Btw that "No Nirvana" programme featured a truly amazing collection of talent from that era. Thanks for posting this.

  • Happy Birthday Tanya!!!

  • Happy Birthday!!!!!

  • Happy days, their first album was ace!

  • absolutely love Belly. one of the best albums ever. strange that commercial success was not more.

  • @PappyHab -Maybe they were caught up in this whole “It’s uncool to promote yourself if you are a real artists” type atmosphere which was still prevalent back then.

I love Belly. I think they could have survived little bit longer if they promoted little harder. Realistically speaking, I don’t think they would have survived commercially beyond early 2000 even if they did that though.

  • Oh Gail you mad Munchkin!
