This exquisite rendition of the technically challenging Gounod "Ave Maria" is simply the best. Anna Moffo, justly known as 'La Splendissima,' was never better! It took years of searching to find this recording. Having heard scores of other versions (while searching for this one), I can state that this is simply the best.

  • @singinhinny I love her pitch:P it`s perfect.

  • @singinhinny I don't like her pitch too..

  • @jamincan Thanks for the clarification. Regards,

  • @anava35 I'm afraid you're mistaken. This is indeed Gounod's aria superimposed over the unmistakable Prelude 1 in C major by Bach and is a very popular setting for Ave Maria. Ellen dritter Gesang is an equally popular setting for Ave Maria, but this is not it.

  • Fake.

  • Actually, although there is much to admire, her pitching is a little odd, isn't it? One or two rather sharp top notes... And I don't much like the slurp up to the opening "Ave". But she has a fabulous voice and I would be a very happy woman if I could sing half as well!

  • Exquisite, however this music belongs to Ellens dritter Gesang by Franz Schubert, the music you reffer to as Bach/Gounod is another version which is rarely sung.

  • excelente. y muy guapa
