The .22LR weapon is a Ruger MkIII 22/45, with a 4.5" threaded PacLite barrel and a Liberty Suppressors "Sparrowhawk" silencer. It is firing Federal Bulk Pack .22LR ammunition. The can is fired dry.

The .45ACP weapon is a Springfield Armory TRP Operator. It has a threaded barrel by EFK Firedragon. The silencer is a YHM Cobra .45. It is firing my custom handload, a 230gr Hornady TMJ over 5.3gr of Winchester 231 and a Winchester primer. The TMJ bullet is important because it has no exposed lead at the base, and therfore it keeps lead deposits out of the silencer. All current .45ACP silencers must be fired with an ablative medium to be reliably hearing-safe.; this one is fired with 2cc of plain water.

Note that while the .45 has a deeper, "stronger" tone, it's not really much louder than a silenced .22. Both weapons sound approximately like pneumatic staple guns. The YHM can is available for hundreds less than competing designs and yet it is very, very quiet for a .45ACP handgun.

  • are suppressors illegal?

  • @cenaboy117 No, they are legal in 40 states. Just a lot of red tape to own one.

  • where do i find a suppressor? price range?

  • @blklightning330 Try to locate a Class 3 SOT dealer near you and go from there. Prices range from $99 to over $3,000 depending on what you are buying.

  • they both sound similar because nothing is breaking the sound barrier. a silenced 9mm will be louder than a silenced 45 because it fires lighter bullets faster and breaks the speed of sound.

  • @NYhunter4 Depends on the ammo, of course. All commercial 147gr 9mm is subsonic.

  • Bad boys move in silence

  • @490Dodesheide Osprey by silencerco and the Ti-rant from AAC are both hearing safe dry .45acp cans

  • yeah you are right. however, if you compare supersonic 9mm to subsonic 45, the 45 will probably be a tad quieter.

  • @NYhunter4 its not only about breaking the sound barrier my friend. the sound of a 45 cardridge is also alot harder to suppress because of the diameter of the bullet. I was really wondering why they both are so quiet it must be a top quality 45 silencer there... normally you can fire a22 subsonic round suppressed without hearing protection and a 45 does really hurt your ears in most cases even though it is suprressed

  • wha, i was looking for real guns, not pellet guns! :P haha

  • right, some ammo for the .45 is supersonic too.

  • thats exactly what i need!!!!!!!

  • @Mrbluntman82 the ones you listed are off brand

  • Yeah, it does sound like a paintball gun, A quit one at that.

  • Wow those suppressors are amazing. It sounds like a paintballgun

  • It's in the video description.

  • whos the Maker of ur .45,,,,,,,,Smith N Wesson, Llama, Sig Saur,, or an off brand maker?

  • Not true, even CCI Minimags usually stay subsonic from pistols, unless you're shooting on a really cold day when the sound barrier is lower.

  • They are the loudest .22 cans on the market right now, by a substantial margin. They are cheap for a reason.

  • What's wrong with the Mites? I was thinking about getting one

  • those r really nice suppressors in this video u can easily shoot these with no ear protection on deff the .22 u can prolly use minimal ear protection if u wanted but i have shot suppressoed .45's b4 that were nowhere near as quiet as this one...nice vid

  • Most .45 cans sound this good when shot wet. .45s can be remarkably quiet with a good silencer.

  • Cool stuff, I was thinking you guys had the military/workshop ear plugs in... I know how a .45 sounds without protection (very scary indoors) so this must be a REALLY great silencer

  • Uh... do you see any hearing protection in this video? :-)

    They sound very good.
