wow, if all immigrants were like this guy, conservatives would all support immigration and set up fliers in their countries.

@floisheremuch These rankings... they are not what is important. I don't want to have a good medical system compared to any country. I want to shoot for excellence, nothing less.
We CAN have in home, efficient care. We can train doctors faster and streamline education. We must. Collaborative systems, community systems, modeled in as a cooperative... that will deliver what we need.
The government is in the pocket of big business. If they were not, I might agree with you.

@ParrhesiaJoe Yep, its so mediocre that its saved three of my close family's lives, and in all likelihood my own? Ranked by WHO, britain is ranked 18th on its healthcare in the world, whereas the US is ranked 37th. Americans can hardly complain about false pride and self deception from other nations. Either way its better than dying because you dont have enough money to pay the bills. Great, we never had kool aid here.

David is 100% correct about insurance companies choosing care.

@michaelpriest Chronology. Populist movement forms, "Tea-Party". It looks more republican than democrat on the surface... Republican party sabotages tea party, the new competition... then media casts as wacky fringe. Then trained wackadoos like Palin and Bachmann come in and destroy credibility.
And NOW, OWS gets the same treatment, painted blue. And some moron will post somewhere, "That whole OWS movement has spread through the unions and the democratic party... so far left.. blah, blah.."

@floisheremuch And Kool-Aid is a tasty sugar-water beverage. Oh Yeah.

@floisheremuch Slang... It's about out false pride and self-deception. British healthcare is mediocre... not compared to the rest of the world... compared to what it should be.
I bet you would design a more just, equitable and efficient system than the British one if you spent a couple Summers putting it together. No committee of politicians will ever build a system better than a single determined, thoughtful individual.
Oligarchic decision structures produce bad systems.

@ParrhesiaJoe What even is kool aid.
-
He is real. He's just living in his own little, Republican world by design

That whole Tea Party movment has spread through the Republican party like a cancer. Its no longer the Reagan republicans, It has moved so far right that they would consider him a liberal. Its very sad, yet entertaining to watch. A bunch of far right religious whack jobs, that have all signed pledges to a rich lobbiest, this Grover Norquest, who the fuck is this guy, and what about the pledge they took to the American people. Anyone making less then a million a year would be a fool to vote Rep
britain has free healthcare and we arent communists and do just fine?

I live under social health care and the whole point of making it effective is to be able to pick your own doctor.
Our doctors get payed by the amount of citizens they have on their list.More health citizens means less work, but the same amount of money. If you are not happy you can change the doctor and another doctor cant deny you to join unless they already have maxed out there list.So its not possible for a doctor to only have young people for example.
Healthy citizens=Less work same pay.
