CPIs work in functional materials brings together two national initiatives, NanoCentral® and Nano KTN, as well as incorporating a number of other projects, such as our collaboration on Atomic Layer Deposition with Newcastle University, AssuredNano the safety, health and environment accreditation scheme, and Primary Dispersions Ltd, a nano-scale dispersion technology spin-out.

We are currently focused on developing and commercialising modern materials with unique properties arising from surface effects, and are working closely with industry with a view to building our reputation as a modern materials centre and becoming an open innovation materials platform partner.

With very high potential for spin outs and joint ventures in this field, we are investing significantly in creating the assets in terms of both IP and physical infrastructure to enable us to take advantage of these opportunities.
