Here's a web 2.0 version of a teleprompter that can also work.

  • @DixonRants I expect that viewers would still see your eyes moving around the camera - and it might look like you're trying to look anywhere but at the camera... but it's worth a shot, and certainly scores highly on the "ultra-low budget" scale.

I would expect that the best approach of all would be to check the "free" and "super cheap" sections of your local ads paper or craislist/freecycle type network. Pick up a monitor for pennies or less and use that.

  • @thirteenfingers That second point is actually pretty interesting..., I may try it...

    Thanks!

  • @DixonRants Hopefully you solved the problem already, but if not I can only see 3 options.

1> Screen (laptop or desktop) directly below the camera. This still won't look like teleprompter use as viewers can see you look below the screen or even left to right while you read.

2> If you've not got long scripts but rather bullet points - cut a circle out of some paper/card - write on the bullet points - poke the camera through and start recording.

    3> Make a teleprompter from a cheap/free screen.

  • Is their a way to position a piece of paper somewhere in the front of a camera so that I don't have to rely upon a laptop (I have a desktop)?

When I record my videos, I always have to look down at the script in which I tape write below my camera. It sucks, and it looks very unprofessional.

If anyone has any tips, can you share them? Thanks!

  • Thanks for your vid!!!!

  • OUTSTANDING information man I love it! When I'm at work, I constantly brainstorm ideas for videos but what irks me is when during actual recording everything I want to say escapes quickly within 3-5 sentences and I end up looking and sounding like a nervous wreck. Being the internet marketing newbie I am, I'm better at writing than freestyle speaking. There I have it. More value to my life to lose sleep over. Thanks, peace!

  • Jim,

It's a honor to get a video response from you. I have been watching all your videos and was floored when you responded.

I love the flip camera that you use. I am using an older camera but can't wait to get one like yours that I can carry with me with out it being all bulky.

I am definitely keeping up with your shows and learning from a pro. I will also check out CuePrompter.

    Have a Great Day!
