@Napalmdog i'll believe 200+ miles per gallon when i see it. not from something as big as this car, a cute video does not make reality. if i could hire 2 semi's to run blocking, i could hit 150mpgs in my smart, but that's not "real world", on a calm summer day with an open track, i can do 90-100mpgs with my smart, and that's not "real world" either. i had a honda 70 long ago that got 140mpgs, it was 180 pounds and i was 120 pounds. (still am 120 pounds 30 years later)

@mrbadx19 From Wiki "The Volkswagen 1-litre car, also known since 2009 as the L1[1] (see 2009 model below), and from 2011 as the XL1, is a two-person diesel concept car produced by Volkswagen. The 1-litre car was designed to be both roadworthy and practical, while being able to travel 100 km on 1 litre of diesel fuel[2] (equivalent to 235 miles per U.S. gallon or 282 mpg Imperial)"---- Sir, you are an uninformed troll...

@Napalmdog ummm, it's a cartoon and not a car, it's a nice cartoon. VW would love to put this on the road, obama jacked up mileage standards last year. nobody will meet his standards with even 4 cylinder cars. i've owned 3 cylinder cars for 25 years, with "old tech" i got 50-60mpgs, the cars were under 2000 pounds. you're an idiot if you think this car can get 250mpg, i'm done, you're an idiot.

@mrbadx19 Well first this car gets roughly 250 mpg and goes 100 mph. Second is this car is far safer, currently on par with formula racing cars. Those two things are outstanding specifications, especially compared to a 360...

I don't think "one-liter" was to refer to the engine. Like the Polo 3L, which used 3 liters per 100km, I think it was a reference to the fuel usage. Of course now we find that it actually uses something like 1.3L, so I'm not sure the name really fits.
Nice car :D

It has two seats, one behind the other. In many countries, it will be viewed as a "lightweight vehicle" which have the same rights on the roads and for parking as motorcycles. (no parking fees in cities and can travel in hov lane) I have followed this car for 5 years now and believe this is no longer a prototype, but the final product. I have seen prices for this car from $10,000 to $40,000. I would buy one for up to $17,000, but not one penny more...
