In order to gain support from the land owner for the retention of this remnant tree significant reduction pruning has been carried out to remove the upper canopy of the tree which was growing on hollow limbs attached to a hollow portion of the main stem.
This pruning and ring barking of the upper stem is a major impact on the tree, however is has enabled the retention of this extremely rare deadwood and hollow habitat in a very large diameter standing Eucalypt.
This work was only possible with the voluntary assistance of Boom Sherrin, Frontier Tree Services, David Gunter and Frank Court.
