@marike1100 what you said makes no sense, you reference an image characteristic to make a point about form factor.
-
You assertion that the AF100 is a "real video camera" is sort of meaningless when you consider that the GH2 resolves more lines with less moire and aliasing.
-
@Imdjay That's the main point: "built in value". Couldn't have said it better.
Still feel like DSLR fanatics will stil bash this video despite your disclaimer.

thecamerastoretv has a much better and less bias review of this camera

5D records in 8 minutes increments I believe. That is why your camera stopped. I a sure someone may have already informed you though, just too lazy to look through the comments.

@Imdjay you mean I cant get a 20mm 1.4 or 1.8 like on my 5D. @ $700 dollars I'm looking at 2.8 at the best.
-
A tiny bit smaller? You mean I have to find a 12mm size lense to get a 24mm.
It's already outdated thanks to the fs100.
Its already outdated thanks to the hacked micro 4/3 GH2 $899
$500 dollars for all the features of the monitor you mentioned, if you don't decide to go with the free magic lantern software.
The toaster ergonomics of panasonics cameras makes it harder to shoot without permits.

I love your passion in the subject :D

Lots of things this review didn't have time to mention, not the least of which is timecode. The Panasonic Lumix 7-14mm lens is also a great lens. Even though I already have the 14-140, I actually find situations where I need to employ the 7-14mm. I shot and edited this video ... vimeo slash terencekearns slash mp-l3-promo

Hey Darren, thanks for this review. I like the video, and I like your attitude. It's an attitude of one who ACTUALLY HAS EXPERIENCE running a business making video - and that seems to be the target market for this awesome camera. These things are going to be gainfully employed for many years to come. For me they are the ideal hybrid ubiquitous camera. Good review.
People who don't understand this camera never will.
just buy the square rectangular filter ! you dont have to buy ten filters don't give wrong info! i hope you had better knowledge on film making!

@1794thinley missing the point of "built in value' as well as "less glass to clean" and "fast changability"

What slider system do you use?

@Aristotlcrates i'm currently testing the konova, haven't had enough time with it yet
Imdjay 6 months ago
@Aristotlcrates i've been trying out the konova, if you get an extremely low profile mount for it, it should work fine, but with my bogan 501 head and af100 on the konova it is top heavy and has a wobble. i'm currently looking for an alternative

I have to say also than a 2x crop factor is a lot, I already have a hard time shooting wide with a 1.6x with something like 50 mm, and you have to get wide (and expensive) lenses to achieve wide angles.
8 bit is bad. Try to shoot flat with that (if you can) you'll see artifacts and banding. 8 bit is to get the look in camera, with just a slight grade.
Great review, and I'm sure te af100 is a great videocamera, but maybe not worth the price. I would go to something more expensive, but far better.

@altoso99 Your DSLR is 8 bit as well. the difference is that the AF100 has complete profile control, you can eliminate banding if you know proper settings, as with many other situations. And wide angles are another red herring. get a 17-50 or 11-16, both under $700.
