@90lysander where has she said this? i'd like to read more. all i know is all these changes into the higher registers and constant high tessitura all are pretty taxing to any good mezzo.

Joyce has called this one of the most difficult arias for a lyric mezzo to sing.

Somehow she makes it sound easy.
