  • Video quality, color, audio are all better on this one by far!! Seems like a great deal.

  • @VirtualPaul123 - I've been experimenting with color (choose 'Vivid') and I set it to HD (not the default). Seems like a good value.

    -Tom

  • Big difference in video quality! Pretty hard to believe that you can get that nice a picture at a low price.

  • @Matches860 - Lotsa folks seem to be using their phone cameras and I think it's crowding the low-end camera market, so to be competitive you've got to up the ante. It's only 24-frame 720 HD, but it looks pretty good. Should be a good travel camera with the AA-batteries, viewfinder and sensible size and interface. They got it right, without a lot of useless features.

  • @NWPipeSmoker Someone else mentioned that about cell phones taking over the pic/video market. I wonder if eventually we'll all be using just one device?

  • @Matches860 - And that's just it - 'smart' phones are kinda bulky anyway, so if you can get away with just one device, it would have to be tempting. I'm not a real phone guy (old flip phone for emergencies) so I'll stick with the better quality of a camera.

  • Wow! I can see you Tom!!! Way clearer!! And it is good to see your pipes so much clearer!! Ya gotta take the pipes that you'll smoke. I've taken many pipes on my trips to OR, but many times I simply smoke a few of em. Stick to the ones ya like with a back up one. That camera has a very nice picture. Great to see you so colorful!!!

  • Wow the picture is much better . Tom in HD lol -VAPS

  • Wooow... so much better picture quality. Now we can see the finer details of your pipes! :D How 'bout a new tour of your collection some time? ;)

  • Huge improvement on video quality, colour, contrast and even audio than the sigma. Your voice sounded so much clearer. With regards the Kaywoodie, can you not cut off the stinger with a small hacksaw, just leaving the threads to screw the pipe together? I did this with a couple of mine with no issues. I just don't like stingers!

    Alan

  • @NWPipeSmoker I gotta say, this camera is much better at video than your Sigma. It's unusual that a somewhat expensive still camera can't take decent video considering most digital camcorders that are for video only have reject sensors that would show defects if you took stills with them, hence why they're so cheap such as the Flip cam.

  • @jackric54 I'm with Tom, I don't use a cell phone (or any phone) as much as others, but I guess it makes sense to bundle everything into one package.

  • @Matches860 -- I've heard the same thing about GPS, going the way of the wind.

  • It's hard to choose the right pipes for a trip.

Eventually i always come back to the most loved ones

because they deserve a holiday too.

  • "Spit & daudle" lol! That is why I prefer bent stems; gravity keeps it in the bowl. However, I seem to use a pipe cleaner more often! Great camera. I think I can afford one of those. Have a safe trip, Tom!

  • You bet I will. Thanks!

    -Tom

  • Second camera is so much better...picture and sound. Have a great trip pal!!!

  • @bluepipesmoker I'm with you, Andre - I like to let my pipes rest a few days between smokes, at least. I may not have that luxury ... or, I may end up not smoking that much. We'll see!

    -Tom

  • @hampshirepipe - I'll look forward to hearing your thoughts on the Margate, Morris. I'm taking a half-tin of Peterson's Old Dublin with some Stokkebye Balkan Supreme mixed in, a bundle of pipecleaners ... half the trip I won't be able to smoke because I'll be doing a Vipassana meditation intensive. I'll try to take a smoking vid or two in an exotic location.

    -Tom

  • I'm luckier than you can imagine, Colin. Thanks!

    -Tom

  • @snuggan1 - That's what I've decided to do with the CustomBilt, Olle. Thanks!

    -Tom

  • @pipesmoker1969 - something to look forward to when I return!

    -Tom

  • @backcountrypipe - Mark, I'm going carry-on with an overhead-able mid-size backpack, so space is at a premium. I'll be lucky to take two pipes (where ARE my priorities!?) but you're so right about different shapes for variety. I always appreciate your opinion.

    -Tom

  • @jumbosilverette - Pretty amazing for $89 US. We'll see how it holds up as a travel camera, though it feels solid. The viewfinder is pretty small, but a nice option to be able to turn the screen off and conserve batteries.

    -Tom

  • What a difference in video quality. This picture is super.

I would take 1 quality or favorite pipe and a couple that I enjoy but not overly worried about. I also would mix up the shapes so I would have variety to suit my mood.

    Regards

    Mark
