  • Zazen sucks - but I'm sticking with it. Thirty minutes a day. Why the hell not. It ain't as though anything else in my life makes any fucking sense.

  • If you try to become void of thoughts, good luck with that. It has nothing to do with Zazen.

  • @ZenBarracuda That's the spirit. Don't lose it.

  • Zazen if fucken cool because its no need to sit in spesific pose, you cant practice everytime everywhere on walk,on job..Also .Zazen its no specific goal its pure freedom!!

  • The Buddha never taught zazen (sitting dhyana) as a means to awakening. Seeing our Buddha-nature or the same "pure Mind", which awakening is about, goes beyond arse-sitting.

  • @Mortaryan Just because someone is a Buddhist teacher doesn't mean they can't use swear words if it's not harming anyone. Throw out your notion of some totally serene bald dude who is only loving and wise. Teachers are human. Also, the Zen/Chan that you are talking about it only one aspect of the whole history of that particular stream of Buddhism.

  • Zazen is one form of meditation and it has its benefits and shortcomings. The benefits are what Warner just mentioned. The shortcomings are that 'just sitting' can allow you to avoid dealing with emotional issues that really need to be addressed. Hence the phenomenon of people who practice Zazen for decades and end up being very clear about certain issues and very confused about others. Sometimes Warner's own writing seems to reveal this problem in himself, IMO.

  • The Buddha never taught zazen. This is Dogen's interpretation of Buddhism who believed zazen was synonymous with enlightenment!

  • @alamedvav That's good advice - and it's come at just the right time. Cheers.

  • @ZenBarracuda try a flotation tank, the effects stick with you for several days min. and up to weeks+ after wards with just one 1hrs session.

  • @ZenBarracuda meant to thumbs up but the opposite hqappened, thiis not remniscenty of how my life is though
