The Global Finals of SmartCamp 2010 will take place in Dublin, Ireland from 16-18 November 2010. The event brings together the winners of eight regional competitions held across Europe, Israel and the US over the past year and they will compete for the title of "IBM Global Entrepreneur of the Year".
The competitors who have made it to the Global Finals in Dublin have been narrowed down from 650 applications for the regional SmartCamp programmes. To get to this stage they have already faced tough competition and have won their regional heat. This event will bring them together with academia, venture capitalists, government, and industry leaders and will pitch them against each other for the overall prize. Each competitor will receive private mentoring and master classes and will pitch their solution to the judges. They will also get the opportunity to network with a myriad of influencers that could be key for their future success. The winner will receive support from IBM to take their solution to the next level. Máire Geoghegan-Quinn, EU Commissioner for Innovation, will make the keynote speech on the third day of the Global SmartCamp Finals and will announce the winner.
As we are approaching the finals, it's a good time to reflect on where the journey started. In the embedded video Martin Kelly, IBM Venture Capital Partner, gives an outline of the programme, the cities involved, the top innovations and, of course, what we are to expect from the final event.
