An amazing performance by David Rehner at the 3rd annual Gratitude Gala at the Rose Theatre in Brampton on July 10, 2010. A Variety show celebrating Maestro Robert Raines. David mesmerized the audience with his rendition of Meditation on the Violin, accompanied by Ron Greidanus.
The third annual Gratitude Gala, put on by MyEmmy Productions, was a rousing example of how fundamental the arts are in the fabric of a community, and how much of a difference can be made by one person who truly knows this.
Maestro Raines has spread his talent and passion all over North America, and Brampton's Symphony Orchestra has been very lucky to call him their conductor for the past eight seasons. In a touching display of their talent and appreciation, a collection of students, colleagues and admirers shared their gifts with a mesmerized crowd at Brampton's Rose Theatre on Saturday, July 10th.
Through professional vocal, instrumental, dance and even acrobatic performances, the cast of this variety show proved that Raines' efforts to elevate Brampton's cultural profile are not in vain. His creation of training programs, and the nurturing of talents both young and old, has contributed to the evolution of the city of Brampton itself, carving a place for its abilities on the world stage.
The giant, record-breaking conductor's baton (13+ feet!) presented to Maestro Raines at the end of the show is a fitting metaphor for a life and career that knows no boundaries, and is always creating larger-than-life results.
