  • I love the whole process of making venison.Skinning, butchering, sharpening, going back to the fire to warm your hands every once in a while or pour some coffee... Oh yeah. Its so relaxing. Great work here, man.

    The way the Native American Indians did it was brain tanning, especially with the fur on. I don't know exactly how it worked, you could research that. The old time, no hair on, buckskin, they used to smoke for waterproofing. From what I understand, every animal has enough brain to tan their own hide. One of these days, I'm going to do a video on it. But, not too soon.  Thanks for the question, etc. - Rick
