Maybe some, they ran the spectrum. Alot of it was just made up to discredit them. These guys got too powerful and had kings of Europeowing money to them. How best to wipe the debt and curb their power by accusing good knights of being devil worshippers. No doubt their faith was more unorthodox as they were obsessed with the quest, which took them into dark territory of eastern mysticism. People still continue to warp the truth of the bible now and hide the evidence. The templars were scapegoats.

The Muslims just have killed, looted and conquered everywhere they could for more then 400 years, and then the evil Christian crusaders came and dared to fight back - more or less in the same manner that was common at that time in history.
