I don't think they teach IMC anymore at Ft. Gordon, Gorgia anymore.
When I was there I hit the key too hard so I had to learn to "tap" the key.
CW was my favorite mode in Ham Radio and lost interest when they decided to get rid of the Morse code. I let my Extra Class Ticket expired in September.
I still have my dad's straight key but need to pick up a practice code osc.
I lost my Heathkit Practice Code Osc. and now I need a good one.
yes you are correct . This movie is nice but I wouldn't recommend this method of learning cw. I have been a ham for 32 years now and can hold my own on a key , any kind of key. Like a musician you learn a style that feels right to you , and if it's nice clean legible cw then that's how you send . Stand on your head while sending if you must it doesn't matter as long as it's clean easy to understand characters your sending with proper spacing. It's music .send slow with a beat (rhythm)
@PA7DA learning code at a 15-18 WPM character speed with extra long timing (farnsworth) to bring it down to 10WPM is a better way to learn. Your way at 5WPM your counting each dit or dah. You need to listen to the WHOLE sound of the letter. you cant do that at slow speeds! the new ways of learning CW are much better than the old ways! You dont get the leveling off at 10WPM with the new way! I hope others research b-4 taking your advice!
To Learn CW I did't on a different way. Just listening and writing starting The T, M, O,0 and the 2nd lesson E,I, S,H,5. On a speed of 5 W/M. Later by finishing all the sign and writing bij a speed of 12 W/M I did had to study to send the sign by the key.
This movie is a nice. But not the correct style to study CW.
