The AT&T Performing Arts Center board of directors wanted a place in the city of Dallas that that all people could come and enjoy and would bring together the Center's newest venues: the Winspear Opera House and the Wyly Theatre. Michel Desvigne of Paris, in collaboration with SmithGroupJJR, designed the lively, 10-acre Elaine D. and Charles A. Sammons Park, the largest public park in downtown Dallas. It's where families, concert goers, students and people who live and work throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth region can relax among mature trees, multiple lawns and natural gardens with Texas native plantings, promenades and walkways, and a dramatic reflecting pool that pays tribute to donors.
