In July of 2009, NOAA annouced the return of El Niño--a climatic cycle associated with warmer than average surface waters in the Pacific that change weather patterns across the U.S. and the globe. This animations shows data from NOAA satellites revealing the warmer than average sea surface temperatures that are occuring in the Pacific.
