The Dads were a great rock 'n' roll band from Richmond, VA that was extremely popular up and down the east coast club and college circuit back in the early 1980's. They were well known for writing catchy originals influenced by the best of 60's and 70's Top 40 Rock and R&B. They were also outstanding at taking Rock and R&B classics from the 50's and 60's and putting their own flavor to them. They were high energy, good looking, great players, great singers and it did not matter if they were playing for several hundred sweaty hometown fans at Hard Times or 20 faithful in an all but vacant club in Virginia Beach on a Tuesday in January - they still played like their lives depended on it. The only thing that stood between Bryan, Kevin, David & Mike - The Dads - and fame and fortune was bad management and a bad recording contract. They were one of the very best bands of the early 80's, bar none.

  • I am pleasently surprised to find this on Youtube today...thanks

  • yep, awesome band. Still have their album. Saw them 2 nights in a row at the WindBreaker on Isle of Palms, outside Charleston SC. I was at the College of Charleston and this was.... 1983-1984 probably. Kept looking for them to get big, but never did. That reminds me, I need to pull that album and port it to the ipod. Looks like you were smart enough to take some pics.
