UPDATE* On Churcill, Victoria fire

Update.
Another video i took on the same day as the first one, it shows the fire much larger, almost looking like a hell fireball, there is a view from our backporch, from my beedroom window and from the lounge window.

THE FIRE ON THE SMALL HILL HAS PRACTICALLY EXTINGUISHED, BUT THE LARGER MORE SERIOUS ONE HAS MOVED NORTH WEST I THINK AND AFFECTED SEVERAL SMALL COMMUNITIES, AND THE PLANTATIONS THAT WERE BURNING, WE GOT ALOT OF DUST AND SOME ASH, THANKFULLY NO SPOTFIRES BROKE OUT IN OUR YARD.

ATTENTION: I HAVE READ THE LOCAL NEWSPAPER TODAY....21 PEOPLE CONFIRMED DEAD IN GIPPSLAND, 10 FROM CALLIGNEE, 5 FROM HAZELWOOD, 4 FROM KOORNALLA AND 2 FROM JEERALANG.

R.I.P WE WILL NEVER FORGET THIS DAY

THANK YOU TO ALL THE BRAVE MEN AND WOMEN OUT THERE ON THE FRONTLINES OF THE FIRES, WIUTHOUT YOU, MANY MORE PEOPLE AND MUCH MORE PROPERTY WOULD HAVE BEEN TAKEN FROM THIS EARTH, FOR THAT WE THANK YOU.

The rain you mentioned is most likely caused by the smoke column itself. The cloud is called a pyrocumulous cloud, and creats its own weather. Very scary indeed.

Was this filmed in the evening, or is the sky just dark with smoke. It's kind of hard to tell.

It was filmed in the afternoon, normally the sun woud be shinning quite brightly since it is the middle of summer, but due to the smoke, it was very dark

Do you not realise that so many ppl have lost their houses, belongings, family and friends in this fire?? i lost one of my best friends in this fire and sick ppl like you sit here and publicise how big and scary this fire is while all the time we can hear the excitement in your voice. missJussy I find it very strange that you have only commented on this witness video, not "FIRE in UFTG MELBOURNE VICTORIA 7/2/09" which got shown on Sunrise. And not on any of the cheesy 'tribute' videos.

I much prefer this honest video to the cheesy 'tributes' monopolising the search results, which are way more guilty of that 'cashing in' accusation - they've even breached copyright law by using other people's music in synchronisation without paying the appropriate mechanical and synchronisation royalties - not to mention the plaguerised news clips and images. This video is honest, original and fully owned by the uploader, including sound.
