The Manye Academy services nearly 300 children of poor migrant families in Kpone Barrier outside of Tema in Ghana, West Africa. Families are faced with hardships in this region and they cannot always afford to send their children to school. The Manye Academy was started in order to meet this educational deficit by Mr. Kabutey Nartey and his wife Emma. Members of 'The Afri-Can Connection' were working with Abigail by practicing reading Dr. Zeuss. English is the official language in Ghana, but, children often speak 3 or 4 languages because there is great diversity in community members background.
