@PastorTraube Unfortunately the American show circuit is the great destroyer of working breeds. These are just beauty contests and animals are then bred according to the aesthetic whims of the show crowd. The German Shepherd was bred for sloping backline and extreme angulation of the hindquarters. Result: a race of crippled canines. Dobermans have been bred to accent their streamlined physique. Result: dogs that lack the muscle mass to perform as guard dogs, as was their original purpose.

@PastorTraube several good responsible breeders have keep dose traits alive in today's Dobermans, Several breeders breed working lines that train and work their dobes in protection the original purpose of the dobe, now others breed the show lines which look different from the working dobes.

1. I don´t like the look of long legged Dobermanns that are 78 cm tall. The Dobermann originally was a medium sized working breed, today it´s mostly a big pure show dog or a pet unable to do what it was created for.

2. You didn´t notice the change in character? It´s pretty simple. Most of todays Dobes are simply unstable and lack all the traits a good protection dog should have.

I don`t know what you mean. Today`s Dobermanns look different but beautiful, too. Just another kind of beauty.

I´d like to know how the character of this race has changed... I`m too young, I just know the Dobermanns nowadays.

These pictures remind me of better times regarding the state of the breed here in Germany.

Compared to the pictured dogs 99% of todays Dobis look like a joke.
