Blowing up a stump!

this is about 6 or 7 gram of flash powder in a tube put in a 7'' diameter stump with a 1 1/2 inch hole drilled in the middle. the object was to split the stump not destroy it! feel free to ask questions.

well sulfur isnt needed to sensitivy this mixture XD

is it really more unstable with using chlorate?

i had some KClO3 and mixed it with fine powderes Al 33:66 (KClO3:Al) by molar mass and it was only fast burning and not ignitable with a hammer maybe i had the wrong ratios XD ( but i also tried to use leyy Al to get an exess of oxigen but it was still only fast buring and not that sensitive)

i thought KClO3+2Al -> Al2O3 + KCl

maybe im wrong?

lol yes you can, i know they recomend no more then.....what is it 1 or 10 grams? anyways as long as your useing prechlorate and u dont use any sulfer i dont see a problem with larger amounts. the only think i dont like is its harder to get it mixed good the larger amount you do.

Also if your useing chlorate instead of perchlorate then go like 25g batches the smaller yougo the safer you are, and the less time it has been made b4 you set it off the safer it is, if your not comfortable with 50g batches 25 or 30 is still pretty quick.
