Slash wasn't GNR. Axl Rose and Tracii Guns was hence the name Guns n Roses. Tracii Guns was the original guitarist before Slash. Yeah, Slash was the better guitarist but still. And believe it or not GNR became a band in 1984 under the name Hollywood Rose. When Tracii came along in 1986 the band was renamed to Guns n Roses like it is now the following band members at the time were Axl Rose, Tracii Guns, Ole Beich, Rob Gardener, and Izzy Stradlin. Tracii left and formed his own band L.A. Guns.
