William Gholston has his head pinned to the ground by U-M's Taylor Lewan no penalty 2011

Before the infamous punch, Michigan player Taylor Lewan grabs Michigan State's William Gholston's facemask and helmet while Gholston is on the ground, then shoves Gholston's head into the turf. No penalty on U-M.

...More indisputable video evidence of preferential treatment awarded to the kicking, punching, clotheslining, facemasking and helmet stripping fortunate sons in yellow and navy. No penalties called against U-M on any of these plays.

Lewan only did this to send a message that he wont tolerate him ripping Denard's face mask off. Its the offensive lines job to protect the QB and if they don't like something that you did to their QB then their going to let you know by doing something exactly like this. If one of Michigan's players would of grabbed Cousins face mask just like Gholston did to Denard I will guarantee you that an MSU lineman would have done the same thing to a Michigan player.

Shoves is a pretty big exaggeration, but even if it was a shove and it was completely dirty, Lewan was did it while the play was still going, he continued to do his job if a little excessively. Gholston was just mad that he had just gotten dominated.  Also, what Lewan did was at worst a 15 yard penalty, Gholston should have been ejected immediately, and he ended up getting suspended.

Although Georgia gave their Bowl Game game away, I was impressed with State's defense. Gholston is a first round pick after his Junior year. Kid's just amazing. And all the crying about what Lewan did is ridiculous. Pinned his head tot he ground? Far from being what they are making it and clearly justifies being punched in the throat. Spartan logic.
