Live long and prosper, Keith! War needs to be horrific so that it is avoided, but still occasionally necessary.
That was one of the episodes where Roddenberry decided to sacrifice having a sufficiently enjoyable script for having relevance (but it wasn't unintentionally hilarious like the Omega Glory or Let That Be Your Last Battlefield).

I think the way Senate Democrats are talking about fixing the Filibuster now is the responsible way to do it. Requiring a Sen to actually Filibuster instead of just objecting and leaving the Senate Floor.

I don't think the filibuster should go entirely away, because if Republicans get control of the Senate again, we'll have to do something to avoid ARMAGEDDON!
I do think, though, that they should have to stand and explain themselves, which Republicans have a very, very hard time doing. What else would be cool is if there was a little red light with a buzzer and an electric charge that would flash and send a current through their bodies when they lie.
