On safari in Kenya when waiting to see a lion or leopard you can always look up (or in this case down) to see one of the many hundreds of species of native birds.
The Ground Hornbill is a very cool looking bird, and I was lucky to see some walking in the tall grass on my last safari. Like most wildlife, in recent times, its populations have fallen. But there is hope for this bird as well as all the others if you support conservation.
For info on how you can help:

I hope by watching my videos you will want to go on safari and see animals in their natural habitats. If I can afford to go, anyone can:)

Thanks for watching and click above to subscribe to my other You Tube wildlife videos.

  • What's the bird at 00:08, i'm assuming some sort of kingfisher?

  • yes a kingfisher. not sure of the exact name. beautiful bird.

  • what are those at 1:07 ?

  • A bunch of Vultures eating what a lion had left of a zebra.

  • the marabu was always my favorite african bird cause he's so ugly xD

    nice video :D

  • Thanks for the comment. I remember watching some storks land at the Sweetwater lodge area in Kenya near the equator. They looked like planes coming in for a landing. They are creepy looking birds.

  • I find the marabou really creepy - I saw it at a zoo and it stared right through my soul with it's scary eyes!

Their bald heads with grey fluff on them makes them look like a really creepy old man!

  • @SpiderSempronius Sry but -- Boo - hiss -- throws a soft tomato in your direction on stage

  • Takes me back to the first real book report I did in elementary [forget which grade, 4th or 5th] school, I got all the 'big birds of Africa'.

I really got into all of these big birds, and was going to get my first 100% on anything other than math,,, until the teacher asked me about the other big bird of Africa which I forgot entirely, the Ostrich. But I had every other African big bird covered.

  • Amazing! Thanks for sharing!

  • The way those hornbills are walking through the grass reminds me of cops on a cross-country manhunt . . .

  • A large-beaked bird damaged my bugle and I had to pay to have it repaired. Damn hornbill.

  • Beautiful animals, so sad to see them slowly but surely disappear. But worry not my fellow earthlings, for it is not too late yet. Come on people, we can still save & protect them!

  • Looks like Halcyon senegalensis, a Woodland Kingfisher, although there are several similar looking species.
