Tony Kaye wasin fact the original keyboard player for Yes, and he was with the band when this song was being written and recorded. Wakemen came in later and recorded his parts to replace most of what Kaye had done. Kaye influenced the way this song was arranged. Howe is a master guitarist for certain. However, Trevor puts a lot of emotion and effort into this song and his interpretation of this Howe song which is much more than Howe has ever done with the Rabin material.

This is one hard-working band. And masterful. Strip a little "delicacy" from Howe and give it over the Rabin for delivery. Rabin can play Howe just fine. Howe can't or won't play Rabin at all (won't even pretend).

Heart of the Sunrise on the Fragile album was another song Kaye worked on and influenced until leaving the band. Like Roundabout, his parts were re-recorded by Wakeman when Wakeman joined the band in the fall of 1971. It's too bad none of the versions with Kaye have ever surfaced. It would be interesting to hear what they sound like.

i presume that the 90125 era was very fun to YES but it wasn't the best era of the band
