It's from Handel's oratorio "Athalia". He's singing the part of Joas, the secret boy king of Judea.
He got the part, and I got the CD when it came out in 1985!

The boy with whom he was competing for the part was Nicholas Sillitoe who had sung with tremendous success the part of Miles in the Opera "Turn of the Screw". As for Aled's vibrato, I've listeneed to a great many boy trebles and don't know of any boy who can/could control it, or ornament the music as well as Aled. His use of such techniques was very precocious.

They wanted him to sing "As in opera" which means with vibrato. I don't think he has, yet, at this age, control of it. I like him better with his pure boy soprano without the vibrato.

Will God, whose mercies ever flow,
expose His childrens youth to woe?
The little birds His bounty taste,
all nature with His gifts are graced.
Each day, that I His care implore,
He feeds me from His altars store.

I think it's a bit from Handel's "Tobit"?
If you would like a DVD of the programme i could arrange it. Email my friend StephenRBeet@gmail.com
