The Great White Sharks are known to be found in the waters of South Africa, the Great Barrier Reef of Western Australia and USA, California. One Great White Shark was tagged for research purposes. It apparently swam from South Africa to Western Australia and back within 99 days ! Where the Great White Shark petrols the water, other sharks simply avoid crossing their path. It was really an upclose and personal encounter when a big Great White Shark came and visited us in the cage. Well....for a change, we humans were in the cage ! My daughter had a bad motion sickness and some of the best scenes were not caught on video footage. She joined me later in the cage where there was only the four of us in the cage. A huge Great White Shark appeared (probably a 5.5 meter) and spotted the bait (a big fish head) which was dangling out on a pole. It leaped out, bite and struggled ferociously to get the bait off the pole. It wriggled aggresively, slamming its entire body and whacked its tail onto the cage. The cage swayed left to right, up & down on the impact and it felt like the cage was going to give way for a moment ! That few minutes in the cage was truly an adrenalin & awesome expereince with the Great White Shark !
@MrBeN2O This was at Gansbaai in South Africa. It is about 2.5 hours drive from Cape Town. It cost about USD 280 which included pick up from the hotel, breakfast, boat ride, diving suit, cage dive and return to hotel. The boat ride took about 1.5 hours in the choppy waves of the Atlantic Ocean.
