@009radix Yeah it's sort of like Panzerfaust, it's not literally a tank fist.

that sound is the real... it is nebelwerfer rocket sound...120mm rocket also used with the great Panzerschreck... Not stupid russian katyushafuck whatever... if this should be the same, then it was stolen from Wehrmacht and the russians used it as their own... that is just sad... it was a robbery masqued in "war", Germania!

This vehicle was officially designated 'Panzerwerfer 42 auf selbstfahrlafette'
'Panzer', as in tank, is short for (as I'm sure you, being German, will know) Panzerkampfwagen (abbreviated as pzkpfw)...which translates to 'armor(ed) combat vehicle' So 'Panzer' should be considered more or less as a noun used in the form of an adjective. Therefore, 'Panzerwefer' seems legitimate.

This is a Nebelwerfer. It werfs nebels.

@WFCliquid Yeah right, but only if the listener sits before his computer... the soldiers where were aimed at...had another idea of that sound.
This would be my same reaction IF the topic was a Katyusha.
Seeing a bombardment on clips is marvellous too, but...I have been bombed by the Germans in 1940 AND by the "allies" during the rest of WW ll. I assure you: that was NOT marvellous at all.
Greetings from Zeebrugge, Vlaanderen. (north of Belgium)

@009radix no. armored launcher would be: Gepanzerter Werfer.

@spottydog4477 Technically the word 'panzer' in German translates to 'armor'. The first type are indeed called Panzerwerfer, a better translation would be 'armored launcher'. The second type are Wurfrahmen which is something like 'launch framework'
Just for Information. im German, and if you Translate Panzerwerfer into english it means Tankthrower, so fully wrong. the Russians or americand just knew the words Panzer and werfer, so they fusioned it. The correct Name of it is Wurfrahmen, or Wurfrahmen 40. in Germany it ws also known as the"Walking Stuka" cause of its typical sound.
