Watch in HD with red/cyan 3D glasses.

This is a short anaglyph collection of stereoscopic 3D Atnalta skateboarding, Paraclete XP wind tunnel, and Keystone Colorado snowboarding footage, all shot in early 2008. Enjoy!

All footage was shot and edited in stereoscopic HD by Eric Deren.

To view this video you will need red-cyan anaglyph glasses, with the red lens on left eye.

You can get a pair of 3D glasses from http://www.goldentheband.com/3d

Song is "Innocence" by Gary Pfaff ( http://www.garypfaff.com/ ) from the "White Stars" album, available on iTunes and CDBaby.

For best results, view the video from a distance of at least 6x the width of the video on your screen.

For best results, view the video from a distance of at least 6x the width of the video on your screen. This means that if you watch it full screen on a 20" monitor you need to sit/stand at least 6 feet (2 meters) away to get the best effect.

For those of you that are going to ask, no, you can not convert 2D to 3D by just tinting the image and shifting it over. There is NO automated way to convert 2D to 3D, it can only be done with hours and hours of painstaking work for every second of footage. There is a difference between creating stereoscopic cues and actually presenting stereoscopic 3D footage. If you think you've found a way to do it, you have no idea what stereoscopic 3D actually is.

  • Any reason you use red/blue or yellow/blue filters? Are they the same? I seem to have better luck with red/blue.

Ever post freeviewed? For the color.

    Excellent video, plus the 3D.

  • >any reason you use red/blue or yellow blue

Yes. Red/cyan is irrefutably the most common anaglyph method. Yellow/blue was popular in early 2009 due to a USA promotion for Monsters Vs Aliens.

    > are they the same?

    They are not the same.

    > ever post freeviewed?

No, as the number of people who have mastered freeviewing are significantly smaller than the ones who have anaglyph glasses.

    Glad you enjoyed the video!

  • dude whats the name of the song

  • how did you get it in 3-d?

  • I shot it with a 3D camera rig then did a lot of work to edit it into a 3D video... much harder than regular video editing... note that most 3D videos on youtube are not edited.

  • Awesome work Eric !

I hear what you are saying about the editing, it really is time consuming I have made a couple of short videos in stereo whilst snowboarding if your interested there are a couple of anaglyphs and a test clip formatted for the you tube 3D player, just search "Thredbo in 3D" and you should find them, Keep up the good work !

  • best anaglyph video on youtube, great work

  • That is really freaking cool! I am working on how to attach my camcorders to a ski helmet at the moment. It will probably be a combination of wood, tape and foam rubber.
