The crisp winter sky put on a fabulous display, 90 minutes prior to sunset. What started out as jeweled sundogs instantly appearing everywhere intensified into a late afternoon with 3 different sighting of rare circumzenithal arcs (CZAs), fiery parhelia (sundogs) and colorful, glowing halo arcs. The parhelia had a surreal blur to them, as if they were made of ice - and that's because they ARE! The halo phenomena shown are attributed to falling hexagonal ice crystals in the atmosphere.

When we returned home, hoping to capture a wonderful sunset, the heavens had one more surprise in store. The billowy cloud just above the setting sun revealed a spectacular and vibrant upper tangent arc!

I felt compelled to create a sequence of the heavenly splendor to share with fellow weather/photo enthusiasts. Hopefully you will be able to grasp a bit of the marvel - a display of our Father's LOVE for us all!

The beautiful music is by pianist/composer, David Nevue and is entitled, 'Deep Heaven', from his album, "The Last Waking Moment".
