Keeping in mind that we had no valid grounds to invade, and that the Iraqi people were better off(to date) before the invasion......do you honestly think that the US has any hope of "salvaging a moral reputation" in this situation? Fabricating some "desperate hour" senerio doesn't change the facts in the situation.

No more or less than any non-oil rich nation with a dictator would benefit from a stable government. Who are we to "allow" or not "allow" a civil war in a soveriegn nation? Go ahead and give me an example of a modern, successful "nation building" effort in the middle east that has sustained peace..........
