very funny. Its good to hear a different point of view about what is happening in Georgia.

I think you may have enough material to do another August rant on the agreement between Poland and the US on the so-called defensive missile deal.

I've just listned to 38:15 minutes of your clip to hear aboud Reading (Berkshire), only to find out that it was about reading on the bog!
Nevertherless, it was very interesting as are all of your videos.

Yup, conducting ethnic purges and killing Georgian civilians is certainly not aggressive and entirely justifiable...
Certainly the best attempt at defending Russia's recent foreign policy action I've heard though.

How did I not know this? [Beijing or Peking], [Mandarin or Cantonese]. Sorry for sounding like a dunce, but I thought it had something to do with the Cultural Revolution. In my mind it was like [Istanbul was Constantinople]. :-)

If I understand you correctly professor, and we use your logic here in the USA, then Mexico can hand out Mexican passports in Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, California, etc.(like Russia did in Georgia) and then they can have a referendum. If they vote to be Mexicans instead of Americans then Mexico can come and take the southwest, and the USA would be wrong to try and retain that territory because they voted to be Mexicans and not Americans? Am I missing the point? Thanks for all your videos.

Indeed. And if they did so, you would say "good riddance". And it would work.

I resent your implying that Americans don't know what the country of Georgia really is ;)
Most of our problems are with the media - media in the USA refer to S.Ossetia as part of Georgian territory without reference to the inhabitants, adding misinformation to ignorance. The real philosophical issue, in my opinion, is whether or not a territory should be allowed to secede from a country. (all of this brings in discussion of the idea of slavery, U.S. civil war, breakup of Yugoslavia, etc).

Indeed. At the end of the day countries are an artifical and fairly recent idea. They often cause more trouble than they are worth. Human beings are what matters, but often we treat things like that was tyhe last thing on the list.
