everyone is clapping because it is a volleyball tournament so we are cheeering for the teams.
and before i get any rude comments about how do i know or whatever i know what i am talking about because i was an extra for the movie and i was there this day. we had to cheer several time for a few different scenes

seeing all the those people clapping in the background makes me think that that is going to be like the end of the movie
like when everything works out and all...and i hate that kind of ending when they are all clapping at the end
