upper teeth at outer border of can, and lower teeth under the lid or whatever its called, now bite and it should be open

It's not fake...cans are necked-in at the top to reduce can diameter and flanged to accept the end...all you have to do is separate the two. Aluminum is soft so it's pretty easy to do.
