This piece is quite simple, but ooh so hard to play well, he does it perfectly, including some of his own embellishments. And his pedalling is almost getting there, a bit too heavy sometimes, but capturing the atmosphere perfectly.

This performer's sense of depth, dimension, and psychic flow is so outstanding.
I never feel like I am listening to a piano player or some ragtime music- but something much more profoundly human.

I looked up perfect piano syncopation in the dictionary. This young man's picture was next to Joplin's.

Joplin most be very pleased to hear his song play it so well by this young man. He most be smiling somewhere up there

I guess he may express by this play what the composer might had intended in his heart, as what is wrote in Doctor Ed. Berlin' book "The king of Ragtime". Thanks for his wonderful sense... ;-)

I tried to look for the better performance of this song on youtube, and this is the best so far.
This young man sensitivity is very good, congratulations.

question. at 3:15 where's the bass notes as written? ik it's a gentle song, but i think that is the most dramatic part of the song. but if u like it that way, go ahead! it's still and aswome performance none the less!
Knowing that Scott Joplin was black, living in Missouri at the turn of the 20th century when discrimination was not even considered discrimination, it seems impossible that he could compose such beautiful music. This piece is extraordinarily beautiful. The young man's performance more than does it justice! So sensitively played. I'm sure Mr. Joplin would be quite impressed on hearing his work performed by this young man. Rabid Joplin fan since the 50s. Good stuff.

You could never hear a more intimate, yet vivace and compelling, performance of Bathena. This is sheer beauty and it captures and demonstrates Joplin's ability at classical composition. Furthermore, the sensitive spirit of this young artist is demonstrated because of Wes' own wonderful command of the pianoforte, not just the keyboard.
