  • @QuarryHigh: It seems to me like you're saying that this bass is the same as the earlier one and if I read correctly, so is Beatles Gear. I'm wondering how this is because like I said before, their different colors.

  • Hello again...I understand why you believe this way. But, if you look at many of the stage photos from 1963-1966, you see a second Hofner on the floor behind Paul. This was a back up in case he broke a string or had some other malfunction. The difference in color from the backup may be what you're seeing. He was probably holding the back up Hofner in the picture you saw. But I've been a fan since 1964 (12 years old) & I knew the pick guard story long before it showed up in Beatle Gear. QH.

  • Hi Andrew....You're right. Paul is one of the greatest bass players I've ever heard. He's really burning it up! Glad you enjoyed the concert. It's a rare glimpse into a very historic time, though nobody knew it at that moment. QuarryHigh

  • listen to that Hofner on Boys!

  • @kainthevampireduck Ah, I gotcha.

  • Greatest artists ever to enter a recording studio or stand up on a stage. All that then. With all the technology today no-one can get near to the rawness of just MUSIC being played by MUSICIANS! Live perfomances without the aid of autotune and without the ability to hear what you were thinking, let alone hearing if you were in tune. Who can do that these day?

  • @ScreamsoftheRaptors maybe somebody touched the volume knots on the soundboard or later mixing the tracks, for boys (or I wanna be your man) they have to lower a bit the volume of the drums channel because ringo's voice mic will get drums too so it could get louder than the other channels. maybe somebody forgot to turn the drums mic on after ringo's song.

  • I am embarrassed for my pathetic city of Philadelphia for not having any actual live footage of the beatles performing here. No wonder we can't win a superbowl like every other major city, we're just too pathetic.

  • Why does A Hard Days Night sound so.... bogged down?

  • Very nice version f Ringo "BOYS" too bad no one ever saw or heard this for 45 years..

  • His first Hofner was refinished in the mid 60's to look a lot 'darker' in the sunburst. You can see it in places in Let it Be before it was stolen.

  • George MARTIN was a great musical influence on the Beatles ...especially on Paul.

Remember what you hear here...is NOT what the crowd heard at the time.... this is a line out from the auxiliary on the desk...ALL different controls than the MAIN output....which goes to the big sound rig. It must have been a nightmare to hear yourself singing with all the screaming!!
