Classic rock-dance tune from the 'All American Girls' album performed on the 'Tomorrow Show.' I wonder if the inspiration for the guitar licks on Michael Jackson's "Beat It" came from here! In any event, Kathy, Joni, Kim, and Debbie gave a fun performance! Also see the performance of "Next Time You'll Know" on my channel.

  • I've read that this song is a tribute to Bob Marley. It also did come out the year he died. And while the song topic is rather unMarley-like, there are little signs here and there that it's influenced by him -- some of the music flourishes, from the keys to the guitar, and some of the vocalizing, are somewhat reminiscent of the Wailers sound. The use of "Runaway" makes me think of Bob Marley's song "Running Away."

  • @TsugaruClan This particular version was not a tribute to Bob. But SS did re-cut the song in a reggae-ish style when it was released as a single. That version was labeled "A Tribute to Bob Marley." But based on what I read in liner notes, it was mostly recut because R&B radio was cold to playing such a rock-oriented song.

  • OMG! THIS IS MY SONG! AND IT'S LIVE!!!!!!!! Where on earth did you dig up these Sister Sledge clips, Justin? Is there an interview?!!!

  • I got it from a trade with a fellow collector years ago. Unfortunately, don't have the interview!

  • I've always loved Sister Sledge. Such a unique sound & vibe for it's time. Kathy's smokey somewhat scratchy voice was just great. She's my favorite for sure.

  • @retrorhythms Thanks, I didn't know this. I have liked Sister Sledge, but never was a hardcore fan. I'll have to go look for the tribute version. Which version do you like better?
