Rath and Macek (political fight in the Czech Republic)

Minister Rath slapped by doctor Macek.

The story behind:
MD David Rath is the former minister of health care and the member of CSSD (the strongest left wing party in the Czech Republic).

MD Miroslav Macek is the publicist and the former vice-chairman of ODS (the strongest right wing party in the Czech Republic).

Back in May 2006, Rath said in the interview that Macek had married his wife for money. Soon afterwards, Macek wrote on his websites that he "will handle it just like men do". About two weeks later, they met each other at the congress of dentists. What happened in there can be seen in the video.

Aftermath:
Soon afterwards, the scene became very popular, especially because the doctors were usually protesting against Rath's methods and reforms. Many doctors stood by Macek and the posters with mottos supporting Macek's act could be seen during their strikes (e.g. "Miroslave Macku, dal jste pěknou facku," which means "Miroslav Macek, you slapped him nicely.").

In February 2009, MD Macek was sentenced to pay 100,000 Czech Crowns to MD Rath (about 5,500 USD). He was also forced to say he regrets his acts. During the public hearing, Macek said: "Being an older man, who has gone thru many things in his life, I had no idea that the court can order me to regret anything. It made me laugh."

Within a few days, the public collection was founded to help Macek pay for his act. People contributed with more than 70,000 Czech Crowns (= 3,800 USD), but Macek himself put 100,000 Czech Crowns (the whole amount) on the account as he didn't want to be sponsored by anyone.

Right now, there are groups which want to collect 100,000 Czech Crowns from its members saying that after having the whole amount, a "lucky", randomly chosen member of the group will slap Rath again, and the money will be used to pay off the penalty.

There politicians are idiots, postcommunist waste of our society...! And this dumb guys like Mr. Vacek and Raht was always funny....their stupidity was funny. At the time the policy was such a comedy (now it´s not much better), that there were two options - to laugh or cry.

The state of offense in this matter can occur only when the society will have quality elite. But not earlier ;-)
