"Gaudete" is an anonymous and traditional Christmas Carol, composed c. 1580 and published in a finnish/swedish in 1582. Originally there's no music for the verses, but it was given by the Church.
This video has been made using the performance by Mediaeval Baebes and some beautiful Renaissance paintings, both early and late.
LYRICS:
CHORUS
/: Gaudete, gaudete! Christus est natus
Ex Maria virgine, gaudete!
Tempus adest gratiæ
Hoc quod optabamus,
Carmina lætitiæ
Devote reddamus.
CHORUS
Deus homo factus est
Natura mirante,
Mundus renovatus est
A Christo regnante.
CHORUS
Ezechielis porta
Clausa pertransitur,
Unde lux est orta
Salus invenitur.
CHORUS
Ergo nostra contio
Psallat iam in lustro;
Benedicat Domino:
Salus Regi nostro

Wow, that was really good. I've never heard it sung with only females... I really liked it, but I kinda think that it is missing some of its epicness without guys singing.
