If you're fed up Xandros, or need more space than XP can provide on a 4GB drive and want something simple to use for browsing, notetaking, watching movies on the go, then this is perfect, and easy as the name suggests. Its a little slow, but its completely reliable, unlike xandros, and I've heard it has a lower power consumption.

In XP you just gotta open up My Computer and see what drives are there. There wont be a CD Drive. It may list the SD/MMC Slot. Then there's the hard drive. If its just C: then you've got one partition, but if there are any more you dont :)

As long as your SSD drive isnt partitioned in half(or other), you can just go ahead and install easypeasyUbuntu. If it is you'll need to reformat it into one partition first otherwise it'll just make things awkward.

Hi there, im a newbie to linux and only familiar with windows O.S. I have just purchased a second hand Eeepc 4g surf and i have a 4 gb flash usb card it had XP on there and i put it back to Xandros from the disc ( as i wanted an easier interface for my 9 year old son) Do i have to get involved in messing with partitions and setting them or can i just follow your guide as this seems a better O.S than the Xandros?
I intend getting a 16gb SD card to increase the capacity for storing videos etc.
