This was a really informative experiment for those studying human development. The point is that the monkey preferred "comfort" to food, suggesting (for the first time at this point), that comforting contact, (not just fulfillment of food/water/shelter) is something essential in development.

......Yo're the moron. This guy did YEARS of experiemnts. In fact, in one particular experiment, he did the soft terry cloth mother, but one that blew out jets of cold air occasionally so forcefully that it would send the monkey flying backwards. At other times, it would stab the monkey (not enough to kill it) with small needles. Therefore, your stupid inference is dispelled. These monkeys would scream and throw fits if that terry cloth mother was even changed a LITTLE bit. You're wrong.
