two pumps on mine. my yellow 78 electra, just changed my sway bar bushing yesterday. the AC works awesome.

instead of fast pumping, it's wise to push it to the floor and hold it for a second, and repeat if neces. ..altho for cold starts on the internet, i guess it's fun to watch ppl tap dance the pedal.
