Lots of loopholes by state and dates to change affiliation vary state by state and info may not be up to date online - why take a chance?

Okay, it's perfectly true that not every State has closed primaries, but rather than list each and every individual State, with an indication of whether primaries there are closed, or open, I worded the info in the way I did to concentrate the minds of all viewers, and encourage them to register Republican IN CASE their State has closed Primaries!

In most closed primary States, you need to do this 8-12 weeks in advance or you don't get to vote.

Registering for an unfavored party is a nice "weeding out the insane/idiots" strategy really. Not like you HAVE to vote for them in the general elections anyway.
